THE hunt for Miss Universe Australia 2011 begins at Epping Plaza next month.
Whittlesea’s own Angie Montana (pictured), who just missed out on a top five placing at the national finals earlier this year, will be one of the judges at the Victorian preliminary heats and final in Epping.
She said she would be looking for contestants with a “certain sparkle”.
“If anyone’s doubting themselves they should believe in themselves because that’s what Miss Universe is all about,” Miss Montana said.
“Miss Universe is an opportunity to showcase what your strengths are.”
Event co-ordinator Paris Ogden said the next Jennifer Hawkins or Rachael Finch could be found right here in Whittlesea and urged local women to enter.
Ms Ogden said the Miss Universe pageant provided a platform for Australia’s most beautiful, talented, educated and confident young women to compete for the Miss Universe Australia Crown.
She said it was an opportunity to represent Australia at NBC and Donald Trump’s International Miss Universe Pageant next year.
Heat 1 will begin at 3.30pm on Friday, October 22, at Epping Plaza and Heat 2 will follow at 7pm.
The final will be held on Saturday, October 23, from 2pm.
Online applications are available at missuniverse australia.com.au.
Miss Universe Australia 2011 preliminaries are from October to May 2011 with the National Final Crowning Ceremony in June.
