10 reasons to watch the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards

Saturday night is the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards—and we’ve got the scoop on the highlights and what to expect! Here are 10 reasons to watch:
It’s been 25 years. What a difference two and a half decades makes! Expect to get a little nostalgic as the awards show celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
There will be slime! Who will get splattered with green slime this year? Who knows? But past slimed celebs include Tom Cruise, Diddy, Adam Sandler, Queen Latifah and Jim Carrey.
Michelle Obama will present an award to Taylor Swift. Talk about an honor! According to MTV, the first lady will honor Swift with the Big Help Award, which is being presented to the singer in recognition of her philanthropic efforts for U.S. tornado and flood victims.

All your favorite stars will be walking the orange carpet. Nicki Minaj? Check. Taylor Lautner? Check. Also expect to see Selena Gomez, who’s nominated for her fourth Favorite TV Actress Award (she’s won it the last three years in a row!)
Katy Perry will perform. According to Digital Spy, the pop singer will perform her song “Part of Me” at the show. Boy band One Direction is also slated to perform.
You can still vote. Want to put in your pick for favorite song, athlete or video game? Time is running out, but you can still vote for your KCA favorites here.
There’s a favorite book category! Hey, does this count as homework? Even bookworms can get into this show, with nominees like “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” “Harry Potter,” and “The Hunger Games.”
You can see adults act like kids. Past KCA ceremonies have included slime-covered celebs (like Will Ferrell!) and burping contests (Justin Timberlake took that one twice!) Cameron Diaz was given the first “Burp Award” in 2001.
Philadelphia native Will Smith is the host of the show! Past hosts have included Tony Danza, Rosie O’Donnell, Ben Stiller and Jack Black, but Philly fans love their hometown boy. Smith surely knows the ropes, too. He’s a multiple KCA winner.
It only happens once a year. If you miss it, you’ll have to wait until 2013 to see the next Kids’ Choice Awards. That’s a long time—and a lot of missed slime.
In the Philadelphia area, the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards airs live on Saturday, March 31 at 8:00 p.m. on Nick.
